PROFILE

The Department of Botany was established in the Year 2020-2021 to provide a supportive environment where students can learn and become experts in Botany, through dedicated teaching and motivation. Botany is the scientific study of plants, including their structure, properties, and interactions with the environment.

Botany provides a deep understanding of plants, which are crucial for our planet's ecosystem by producing oxygen, providing food, and serving as the foundation of many food chains.

We also maintain a Herbal garden and Green environment within our college campus.

VISION

  • Attempt is to prepare students for lifelong learning by drawing attention to the vast world knowledge of plants and introducing to the methodology of systematic academic enquiry. With this in mind, we aim to provide a firm foundation in every aspect of Botany and to explain a broad spectrum of modern trends in Botany.

MISSION

  • To know the importance and scope of Botany.
  • To impart knowledge of science as the basic objective of education.
  • To apply conventional and non-conventional tools to understand plant processes.
  • To develop human resource with expertise in frontier areas of plant sciences.
  • To establish collaboration with eminent institutes for betterment of the student.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop a conceptual understanding of principles and importance of Botany.
  • Understand the nature and basic concept of Diversity of lower and higher plants, taxonomy, Anatomy, Physiology and Ecology, Applied Botany, Cytogenetics, and identify & classify the plants that occur locally.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on selected topics of microbiology, cytology, genetics, plant biotechnology, and angiosperm, and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze a broad range of different phenomena.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  • Understand the principles of identification, classification, and evolution of various plant groups according to their morphology, anatomy, and palynology.
  • Understand the principles of life processes, biomolecules, and heredity.
  • Classify plants according to the principles of plant systematics, apply techniques of plant breeding, plant propagation, and genetic engineering.
  • Learn about basic laboratory skills.
